Marta is an alien from Poison Paradise, a distant, mosquito-infested planet. On a mission near the Moon for several years, Marta spends her free time photographing komatiites, precious stones that move slowly across the lunar surface as night falls. When an asteroid hits her ship, Marta is forced to make an emergency landing on an unknown planet : Terra. There she discovers human beings, their conflicts and wars, but also their arts. Along the way, she learns to become human. This album tells the story of Marta’s journey to Terra.

Marie Delta is the psychedelic electronic pop project of Mariette Auvray. Ex-member of bands Pussy Patrol, BCBG, Eyes Behind, and touring member of Marietta and Opale, Mariette has participated in a multitude of concerts and festivals such as Baleapop, Levitation Festival, Rock in the Barn, la Gaîté Lyrique,
le Point Ephémère, le Petit Bain, and has made several tours in Europe, Asia, Australia as well as in North and South America (Brazil). She also took part to a vocal performance at the Museum of Saint-Etienne entitled « Galop » along with Franco-Gabonese artist Myriam Mihindou (Venice Biennale). Mariette then recorded her first solo album « Route de nuit » during a residency at the Cité Internationale des Arts in Paris in 2020 and in her native region of Burgundy during successive lockdowns, following a long covid. It is a disc sung in French, with dream pop and darkwave accents filled with female choirs, haunted by the music of Broadcast, Julia Holter, Linda Perhacs and Black Devil Disco Club. The album was mixed by Olivier Demeaux (Cheveu, Heimat) with whom she played in former band Eyes Behind, and mastered by Mikey Young (Eddy Current Suppression Ring, Total Control), producer and musician from the Australian scene.
The disc covers various subjects such as healing (Fleurir), a sensual and humorous tribute to housecleaning (Nettoyeuse électrique), the fear of street harassment (Route de nuit), the story of a city engulfed by the waves (Secousse Volcanique),
and the explosion of the sun in a few billion years (Sun goes wild). Mariette also collaborated with Black Devil Disco Club on the remix of her track « Route de nuit » released on label Monograph, and performed on stage alongside Cate Hortl and Billy Nomates. She has also released tracks on various compilations including Pilori Vol.II with Delacave, Bimbiveri and the «Teenagers of the Years» compilation from the fanzine Le Gospel.
Her forthcoming second album, “The Girl from Poison Paradise”, whose title is inspired by Stan Getz’s “The Girl from Ipanema” and whose musical universe is inspired by Barbarella, Björk, Laurie Anderson, Horace Andy, with pop, psychedelic, dub and amapiano sounds. This is a concept album accompanied by a printed story co-written with sci-fi novelist Phoebe Hadjimarkos-Clarke (winner of the french Prix du Livre Inter). The album also features a number of musical collaborations, notably with Julien Barbagallo (Tame Impala), Italian electronic musician Phantom Love, Guadeloupe rapper and photographer Cédrick-Isham Calvados, and Johannesburg-based amapiano producer Dunny82K, based in Johannesburg. This album is a reflection on the bond between earthlings, and recounts the odyssey of an outsider, deploying a feminist imaginary. It offers a documentary look at our time, its wars and climate issues, but also at love and technology, and explores poetic ways of fighting patriarchy and other forms of domination, drawing the lines of a feminist, ecological and anti-racist future.

“Galop” – Myriam Mihindou / Mariette Auvray
MAMC, Saint-Etienne, 2019
Invitation of Damien Deroubaix for his exhibition Headbanger Ball
Galop is an uprising, an invitation to a rite, it’s the awakening of our forces, our animality, exploring the sacred power of our matriarchal memories. The oracle is carried by a voice (Mariette Auvray) and the embodiment and living sculpture of a horse by Myriam Mihindou.
